The dimensional combinations are not an approved manufacturing matrix, stock list, or guaranteed supply range. Project-specific material specifications and production feasibility require confirmation.
For each selected outside diameter, six nominal wall thickness options (6, 8, 10, 12, 16 and 20 mm) are evaluated using transparent assumptions. Values are preliminary comparisons, not certified pressure ratings or buried-pipe structural approvals.

Availability and conformity are confirmed through the selected supplier and the agreed project documentation.
6.7. Steel Pipe Fittings, Connections & Fabricated Components
Steel pipe fittings and fabricated components support changes in direction, branching, diameter transitions, equipment connections and prefabricated pipeline assemblies. Be’lyz Group assists customers with the project-specific sourcing of compatible steel components, subject to supplier capability, technical specifications and documented quality requirements.
6.7.1. Fittings & Component Overview

| Special Fabricated Components | Support transitions, manifolds, headers and custom connections for water and industrial systems. | Detailed fabrication drawings, design loads, weld details, dimensional checks and corrosion protection. | Project-specific engineering requirements and applicable material/welding standards. |
6.7.2. Connection Methods & Engineering Considerations
| Connection Method | Typical Considerations | Required Verification |
|---|---|---|
| Butt-Welded | Permanent connections for compatible pipe and fitting materials. | Joint geometry, qualified welding procedures, welder qualifications, NDT extent and applicable piping code. |
| Flanged | Demountable connections at equipment, valves and maintenance points. | Flange standard, pressure-temperature rating, facing, gasket, bolt material and tightening procedure. |
| Mechanical Couplings | Selected water and infrastructure connections where permitted by the design. | Manufacturer approval, outside-diameter tolerance, pressure rating, restraint, seal compatibility and installation instructions. |
6.7.3. Material, Dimensional & Quality Documentation
Component selection must be consistent with the specified pipeline material, design pressure, design temperature, transported fluid, corrosion environment and governing design code. A nominal pipe size alone is insufficient to confirm dimensional or pressure compatibility.
- Material identification: Specify the required grade and product standard; request traceable material certificates such as EN 10204 Type 3.1 when contractually required.
- Dimensional compatibility: Confirm actual outside diameter, wall thickness, schedule or thickness designation, fitting geometry and end preparation.
- Welding and inspection: Define applicable WPS/PQR, personnel qualifications, visual inspection, NDT methods and acceptance criteria.
- Pressure and leak testing: Establish test requirements under the governing code and approved inspection and test plan; testing is not automatically identical for every component.
- Coating and lining continuity: Specify field-joint protection, internal lining transitions, holiday testing and repair procedures where relevant.
- Documentation package: Request drawings, dimensional reports, certificates, inspection records, traceability records and packing lists as appropriate.
6.7.4. Information Required for a Technical Enquiry
For an accurate sourcing review, customers should provide the component type and quantity, drawings or dimensions, material grade, applicable standards, design conditions, connection details, coating or lining requirements, inspection scope, documentation requirements and delivery destination.
6.8. Steel Pipe Quality Assurance, Testing & Certification
Reliable steel pipe procurement requires documented conformity with the specified material grade, manufacturing route, dimensional tolerances, inspection requirements and intended service conditions. Be’lyz Group supports project-based sourcing and coordination of quality documentation from qualified suppliers, subject to the agreed purchase specification and applicable inspection arrangements.
6.8.1. Inspection & Testing Methods
The inspection and test plan (ITP) should define the applicable methods, acceptance criteria, testing extent, witnessing requirements and responsible parties before production or order confirmation.
| Inspection / Test | Purpose | Typical Verification | Project Considerations |
|---|---|---|---|
| Visual & Dimensional Inspection | Check surface condition, geometry and product identification. | Outside diameter, wall thickness, length, straightness, end preparation and marking. | Acceptance tolerances depend on the selected product standard and purchase order. |
| Hydrostatic Pressure Testing | Verify pipe integrity under the specified factory test conditions. | Test pressure, hold duration and recorded results. | Factory test pressure is not equivalent to an approved operating pressure rating. |
| Ultrasonic Testing (UT) | Detect relevant internal or surface-connected discontinuities, depending on technique. | Weld seam and/or pipe body examination as specified. | Coverage, sensitivity and acceptance levels must be defined. |
| Radiographic Testing (RT) | Examine weld integrity using an appropriate radiographic method. | Specified weld zones and reportable indications. | Not universally required for every pipe product or weld. |
| Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) | Identify surface and near-surface discontinuities in suitable ferromagnetic materials. | Selected weld areas or fabricated components. | Requires an applicable procedure and acceptance criteria. |
| Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) | Identify surface-breaking discontinuities. | Accessible weld or component surfaces. | Appropriate for nonporous surfaces; not a volumetric examination. |
| Mechanical & Chemical Testing | Confirm specified material properties and composition. | Tensile properties, impact testing where required, and chemical analysis. | Tests and frequency depend on material grade, standard and service conditions. |
| Coating & Lining Inspection | Check the specified protective system. | Dry-film thickness, holiday detection, adhesion and surface preparation records, as applicable. | Methods and acceptance limits depend on coating type and specification. |
6.8.2. Material Certificates & Traceability
| Document / Record | What It Establishes | Procurement Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| EN 10204 Type 3.1 Inspection Certificate | Specific inspection results validated by the manufacturer’s authorized inspection representative independent of the manufacturing department. | Request when specified by the purchase order or applicable product standard. |
| EN 10204 Type 3.2 Inspection Certificate | Specific inspection results validated by the manufacturer’s authorized representative and the purchaser’s authorized inspection representative or an inspector designated by official regulations, as applicable. | Arrange the required independent / purchaser inspection involvement in advance. |
| Heat / Batch Traceability | Links material identification to relevant production and inspection records. | Specify marking, traceability level and document cross-references. |
| NDT & Hydrotest Reports | Records examinations and tests performed under the agreed ITP. | Define report format, scope, acceptance criteria and release requirements. |
| Coating Inspection Records | Documents specified coating application and verification results. | Request only the records relevant to the selected coating system. |
| Third-Party Inspection Report | Documents inspection activities carried out by an appointed independent body. | Optional unless contractually or regulatorily required; define scope and hold points. |
6.8.3. Standards & Inspection Framework
Product conformity must be assessed against the specific standard, edition, grade, manufacturing process and delivery condition stated in the contract. Depending on the project, relevant references may include API 5L, EN 10224, EN 10217 series, ASTM A252, AWWA C200 or EN 10219 series. These references cover different products and applications and are not interchangeable.
Inspection documents may be specified in accordance with EN 10204. Non-destructive testing procedures, personnel qualification and acceptance criteria must be selected according to the governing product standard and project specification; a generic NDT statement alone does not establish compliance.
6.8.4. Quality Documentation Checklist for Enquiries
